Maruti Suzuki is not just to get the new generation of Swift, but it will also launch the sedan version of Swift in the second half of this year. The engines in the DZire will remain the same - 1.2-liter gasoline and 1.3-liter DDIS. The new generation Swift is wider and longer than the soon to be outgoing model and the same changes will be implied in the DZire too.

Unveiled on Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida, 2012 Maruti Suzuki Dzire or "Heart Car" will be launched on 1 2012 February, after the success of its predecessor, Maruti Suzuki Swift.

Less than 4 feet in length, the new Dzire have a shorter boot, new taillights and a chrome accent. The shorter size meant that it qualifies for a lower excise duty of 10 percent as opposed to the current rate of 22 percent of Swift.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire has 3995 mm long, 1690 mm in width and 1530 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2390 mm and 1000 kg weight, the new Dzire is built for India's recent obsession with "small" cars. While the company may have compromised a tad bit too much on the boot size in their attempt to keep the car under 4 meters. But the makers have a different scene, so even if the look is a little square that is set to pack a punch.

It have a five-speed manual gearbox (petrol variant will have a four-speed automatic transmission) with synchronized in all gears, and will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. It has also been consumed with Detente pin tech and variable valve timing, which provides smoother shifting.

The petrol variant is expected to have a K12M petrol engine VVT engine that delivers 87ps of power @ 6000rpm and 113Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm and can reach up to 145 kmph speed. While D13A DDIS diesel will include 1248cc, intercooled, turbocharged diesel engine that will give maximum effect to 75ps @ 4000rpm and 190Nm of torque @ 2000rpm.
